The 2022 Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Is Perfect for Riders Entering the Middleweight ADV Segment
Contents
In late 2020, the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport replaced the standard Triumph Tiger 900 to become the entry into the Tiger lineup at the time. Now, the Tiger Sport 660 takes that spot in the 2022 Triumph Motorcycle lineup, but the Tiger 850 Sport remains a serious contender for someone looking to step into the middleweight ADV space.
The Tiger 850 Sport shares a lot of its hardware with the Tiger 900 GT but with a detuned engine to make the power delivery more manageable and tractable for a broader demographic. Powering the bike is the 888cc inline-triple as the Tiger 900 range, producing 84 hp — about 10hp lesser than the Tiger 900 — and 60 lb-ft of torque.
The British motorcycle also shares many features with the more expensive Triumph Tiger 900 range, including the slip-and-assist clutch and ride-by-wire throttle. The 850 Sport offers two riding modes — Road and Rain — altering throttle response and traction control. Triumph Motorcycles have also equipped the bike with top-end hardware parts, including Brembo Stylema brake calipers, Marzocchi suspension, LED lighting, a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster, and an adjustable windscreen.
The 2022 Triumph Tiger 850 Sport starts at $11,995 USD / $13,595 CAD.
